Shining Through the Storm is committed to supporting the communities of Western North Carolina impacted by hurricanes. Through fundraising, donation drives, and outreach programs, we provide essential resources and aid to help residents rebuild their homes and restore their lives. Our team is dedicated to offering both immediate relief and long-term recovery solutions, empowering the region to recover and grow stronger in the face of disaster. Together, we can help bring hope and resilience to those who need it most.

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide critical support and resources to victims of natural disasters, starting with Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. We are dedicated to helping families and communities rebuild their lives by offering financial assistance, food relief, and long-term recovery efforts. Our goal is to assist those impacted by disasters of all kinds, empowering them to rise above the challenges they face. Through compassion, resilience, and collaboration, we aim to create a brighter future, turning adversity into strength and rebuilding stronger, united communities.

Our Founder
I am Reanna Ruark, a 21-year-old passionate advocate from Belews Creek, North Carolina, where I still reside. I am the founder of Shining Through the Storm, an organization dedicated to helping victims of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. What started as a platform for my pageantry journey quickly grew into something much bigger—a movement that resonated with so many people that I was able to turn it into a nonprofit.
My passion for disaster relief and community support stems from witnessing the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene on families and communities. With a heart for service and a commitment to making a difference, I established Shining Through the Storm to provide critical aid, resources, and long-term support to those affected. Through our programs, we focus on ensuring that those impacted receive the help they need to move forward.
In addition to being the founder of this organization, I am honored to serve as Universe United Miss North Carolina 2025. I believe that true leadership lies in empowering others and fostering opportunities for growth. My vision is to see a stronger, more resilient Western North Carolina, where every individual has the support they need and no one is left behind in times of crisis.
